CASE STUDY: Covarubios CABIN

RUNNING SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA

With a masculine aesthetic and thoughtful touches, this home maintains its rustic charm while being a comfortable and welcoming space for relaxing and entertaining.

A year-long renovation of this home that has been enjoyed by many generations included extensive clean-up of the exterior. A lot of overgrowth was hauled away. A local contractor was hired to renovate the laundry room, do miscellaneous general and electrical repairs, renovate a much-needed handicap access bathroom, and paint. Robert then added some gently used furniture to complete the living spaces, including a "warrior’s cabinet" that houses Ray’s treasured Native American collectibles along with memorabilia from his time in Vietnam. The changes were revealed to Ray during a blessing ceremony. With family and friends present, Robert led everyone in prayer as he handed Ray the keys to his new "Sacred Healing Home." Ray said his own sacred Native American prayer for protection, rebuking all the demons that had bothered him in his home before the work was done. “My favorite change is the brand-new doors," says Mr. Covarubios.
